A Bristol-based jazz-soul vocalist and songwriter, her velvet tone and refined aesthetic evoke the golden eras of music while remaining distinctly modern. Drawing on influences from classic soul, jazz, and neo soul, her sound blends warmth and sophistication with emotional honesty. Whether performing with a band or in an intimate setting, Mary captivates audiences through expressive phrasing and magnetic stage presence. Her voice carries both power and tenderness, a signature style that connects deeply with listeners.
Her latest song, Lonely Part of Me, is a deeply personal piece inspired by Mary’s discovery of the identity of her biological grandmother through a DNA test, and the revelation that she too had been a professional singer. After a powerful dream about her grandmother, Mary wrote the song the following day. The track traces a thread between past and present, exploring grief, memory, and the healing power of musical inheritance. Warm soul harmonies and poignant lyrics create a moving work where singing this true story becomes a bridge across time.
Beyond the stage, Mary curates and hosts a regular jazz night and presents a weekly drive-time radio show on Ujima Radio 98FM, championing creativity, community, fashion, mental wellbeing, and artistry. She is also the creator and host alongside Meg Cox of the Persona Power Podcast, a platform exploring confidence, identity, resilience, and creative expression, extending the philosophy behind her music: that finding your voice is an act of personal power.
Mary is currently working on a new EP with her band, developing a richer, more collaborative sound that deepens her jazz-soul roots while embracing bold new textures. With recent self-produced singles such as Everything You Need and Seven Weeks, she continues to carve her path as one of Bristol’s most compelling voices, crafting songs that resonate with heart, soul, and purpose.
